3-year-old drowns in residential pool | News

KIRKWOOD, Ill – A toddler from Monmouth, Illinois drowned in a residential pool Friday, July 6, 2012.

Three-year-old Thomas Heatherly was with his family in Kirkwood, Illinois when it happened.

The group was about to sit down for a meal when they noticed Thomas was missing. He was found minutes later in a nearby pool.

According to Warren County Coroner William Underwood, access to the pool was locked, it was unclear how the child gained entry.

The child was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. Underwood called it an “unfortunate accident.”
