DCFS: Number of children abused, neglected up in local counties | Crime

The Illinois department of children and family services says reports of child abuse and neglect are increasing across downstate Illinois.

From July through October, there were more than 25-thousand calls to the state’s child abuse hotline, representing a nearly 5 and a half percent increase from the same period last year.

Four of our Illinois counties are included on that list are Henderson, Knox, Mercer and Warren.
